Minor Leather Creases or Indentations in Leathers
print icon

Sofas are packaged in protective cover and occasionally cardboard corners and the legs are soft packed inside the sofa boxes. Packaged goods are handled as various points and although we go to extreme lengths to ensure quality packaging - there is simply no way possible to prevent minor indentations or slight crease lines, 100%. This occurs on Top Grain and superior leathers because they are hide and a natural skin which is inherently more durable and soft, hence susceptible to this type of marking on occasion. The foam underneath can be slightly depressed in the packaging and this can be plumped back to its original state.

This may seem alarming at first however this is this is not a fault as there is no way transporting these goods without packaging seams and elements within the packaging.

Indents or Creases can be Remedied 100%

The goods news is that this is completely removable and fairly easy to do !

After a day or two since your sofa has been unpackaged the marks will begin alleviate on thier own just through being out of the packaging and in a warm environment.

Failing this Heat treatment can be applied to completely remove these marks.

NB: For Top Grain or Full Grain Leather Only

For specifically Top Grain leather parts of the sofa which are seated areas, arm tops and all the parts you sit on on or touch:

-Warm an iron to wool setting

-Have a white cotton cloth to hand

-Place the cover over the area and gently warm the area affected moving the iron in circular direction and pressing fairly gently.

Please do so for 1-2 minutes then view the area and give it a few minutes more to allow the area to reconstitute.

If not removed repeat the process.

Alternatively this can be done with a heat gun.

Please watch this video to see a demonstration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c85yZC-9BJI

NB: The iron or heat gun must not be on hottest setting and you must not just hold in one position for several minutes or you can damage leather. Its very hard to damage the leather but some care is needed. It is the same principle as ironing a shirt or woolen garment.

If you are not comfortable doing this we can send a technician to remove any indentations or marks as a result of transportation.
